Cattle handling facility (fictional)
Every dimension comes from what cattle will not do
This drawing comes from one YAML file. No shape was moved by hand.
Notes in the source (in Japanese)
A behaviour diagram drawn in plan.
Every dimension on this sheet comes from what cattle will and will not do.The race curves because cattle head back toward where they came from -the curve uses that instead of fighting it.
It is not a trick. An animal standing in the crowd pen still has to seetwo body lengths up the race; if it cannot, the entrance reads as a wall andnothing moves. That is also why a tight radius needs a straight section first.
Sides are solid for the same reason: what they see beside them stops them. The crowd pen is level, and any ramp belongs inside the single file race.
1 px = 2 in. Dimensions follow published handling-facility guidance(Grandin, "The design and construction of facilities for handling cattle",grandin.com, retrieved 2026-10-02: race 66-71 cm, V race 41-45 cm / 81 cm at 152 cm,radius 3.5-6 m, under 3 m needs a 3 m straight, crowd gate 3.5 m); this layout is fictional.
