Protein topology diagram (TOPS) — discard lengths, keep only the fold
Throw away every length and only the fold is left: a TOPS cartoon draws helices as circles and strands as triangles, and whether a connecting line stops at the edge of a symbol or runs into its centre is what tells you which end of the strand it joins — so two proteins of very different size can share one diagram
This drawing comes from one YAML file. No shape was moved by hand.
Notes in the source (in Japanese)
Michalopoulos ほか「TOPS: an enhanced database of protein structural topology」Nucleic Acids Res. 2004の「connecting lines drawn to the centre of the symbol indicate connection to the top, and those drawnto the edge indicate connection to the base」。
